The Winter's Edge - going for the gold

March 13, 2019

The Canada Winter Games athletes weren’t the only ones showcased in Red Deer between February 15 to March 3, 2019.

The Winter’s Edge Investment Forum provided 14 businesses with the opportunity to pitch to an audience of investors who were looking for the next ‘big thing’ that will change our world.

“This event lines up perfectly with the Canada Winter Games” states Pam Steckler of Central Alberta Access Prosperity. “There are so many similarities between entrepreneurs and athletes; they both require a lot of hard work and dedication, endless hours of preparation with no guarantee of success and a passion for what they are doing that can’t be matched by anyone else. When an entrepreneur pitches their idea publicly, like at The Winter’s Edge, they feel many of the same emotions that athletes do while competing, they feel anxiety, fear, excitement, and pride.  It is quite amazing to see someone put it all on the line and go for the gold.”

If you are interested in attending The Winter’s Edge, either as a business pitching an idea or as an investor, the next one is scheduled for October 30, 2019. This annual event will take place every fall for the next 10 years during the Canadian Finals Rodeo. A fitting parallel as nothing says take a risk and put it all on the line like strapping on to the back of an angry bull!
