When disaster strikes, we are reminded that we live in a welcoming community of kind, generous people. Savannah was reminded of just that on June 20 as 110 km/h wind gusts ripped through the heart of Red Deer, downing hundreds of trees and causing damage across the city. She decided to share her story as a way of thanking her neighbour Ashley, who came to her aid without hesitation:

I would like to thank my neighbour Ashley and her husband who came over to my house and helped me take apart my fence that came crashing down in the wind storm. I was home alone with my three kids and we barely made it home from soccer when the storm hit. I also lost a portion of my shingles. It was very overwhelming to deal with on my own. So I was, and always will be, grateful to them for helping me take apart my fence. Not to mention, their basement suddenly took on water the weekend before the storm. So they had their own mess to clean up and still came to help me out! Thank you both from the bottom of my heart!
