Red Deer Minor Hockey U13-A APLS Chiefs give back

December 08, 2022

The Red Deer Minor Hockey U13-A APLS Chiefs spent an evening bonding while assembling over 50 hygiene kits for local at risk youth.

With the help of many community organizations like the City of Red Deer, YMCA, John Howard Society, Central Alberta FASD Society, Tom Bast Sports, SPARC Red Deer, McMan Youth, Family & Community Services Association and RCMP along with the APLS Chiefs they were able to gather many hygiene items to contribute to the bags.

The Red Deer High Risk Youth Coalition has identified an urgent need in our community to assist at risk youth with basic hygiene supplies. Items donated for these bags will support youth with showers, soap and towels, dental health, deodorant and even a card filled out by the hockey players with a message of kindness, hope and inspiration. The U13 A APLS Chiefs gathered shampoo and towels for the bags and were thoughtful in their messages to the recipient.

Youth supporting youth in our community is a powerful way to support one another. Kids in need will soon have access to the bags at the YMCA and City of Red Deer recreation centres.
