Red Deer’s (not-so) Hidden Gems

June 25, 2024

Ever find yourself looking for something to do but having no desire to do the planning or research? There’s a new business in town that does the boring stuff for you so all you have to do is show up.

A choose-your-own-adventure style of experience that’s true to its name, Hidden Gemz will help you experience Red Deer like never before.

Already established in Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge, Ranique McLaughlin, founder and CEO, says the company is happy to expand their services into Red Deer.

“We’re on a mission to debunk the myth that there is nothing to do in these towns,” says McLaughlin. “So we started asking people in Red Deer about the best spots in the city and now we want to make sure people can have fun finding them. We were surprised by just how much there is to do here”

The Hidden Gemz experience is similar to those fun excursions people book at resorts when they travel abroad, these are local excursions. Check out https://linkin.bio/hiddengemz/ for more details!

In addition to this experience, there are so many things to do in Red Deer this summer. Check out the Westerner Days Fair and Exposition from July 17-21; relax as you float down the Red Deer River or, if big rivers aren’t your thing, chill out on the lazy river at Discovery Canyon.

Looking for more of a thrill? Take a ride on the Canyon Coaster or the Canyon Adventure Park at Canyon Ski Resort; or slow it down with a walk, or rent an e-scooter, and explore Red Deer’s incredible parks and trails.

The City has recreation facilities boasting swimming pools, water slides, field houses with climbing walls and drop-in programming for all fitness and activity levels, the outdoor pool with outdoor lounge chairs and 1 and 3 metre diving boards.

This is just a small sampling of what’s available for you in Red Deer. Tourism Red Deer has many ideas on their 2024 Visitor Guide available at visitreddeer.com.
